On show at Computex: New portable DVD
player
June 5, 2001
Afreey Co. Ltd., according to their assessment
the first company in the world to develop 50x and 56X CD-ROM drives,
is showing a home DVD player abd a very thin portable DVD player,
which was awarded the "Taiwan Award of Excellence", a national
mark of distinction awarded to companies that excel with proprietary
developments and own design ideas, rather than just being an OEM
manufacturing base.
The portable unit, PDV-2000, is equipped with
a TFT-LCD screen of 6.8`` diagonale and built-in Dolby Digital
decoder/DTS output. The endurance is claimed to be 3.5 hours of
continuous playback, using a Lithium battery. The player accommodates
DVD, VCD, MP3, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and SVCD disks. The audio-video
output jack allows standard connection to a TV, LCD projector
or video camera. When used at home, an optical and a S-VS output
provide superior sound and picture quality.
Additionally, Afreey also introduces a new multi-beam
25X DVD-ROM with Tru-X technology and a MP3 CD-plyer for 8cm discs.
