CeBIT 2006 Hannover (9 to 15 March)

CeBIT 2006 in stronger demand than ever

January 19, 2006

  • Exhibitor boom in ¡§Security Hall¡¨, Hall 7
  • Additional display space added in Hall 6
  • Current registrations point to record level of participation

Security in the field of IT and communications technology is in greater demand than ever before. And Hannover-based Deutsche Messe AG is registering dynamic growth in the ¡§Security¡¨ display sector for CeBIT 2006. Following the first concentrated ¡§Security¡¨ presentation in Hall 7 at CeBIT 2005, the increased number of exhibitors at CeBIT 2006 will necessitate an expansion of the Security sector to include the southern part of the adjacent Hall 6. The rate of registrations to date is already 45 percent above the corresponding figure from last year, pointing to a new record in the rate of exhibitor participation. This makes the CeBIT Security sector Europe's biggest presentation platform for the latest IT security trends and developments.

Along with numerous new companies registering for the Security sector in Hall 7, several of the companies who participated at the prior event are planning to significantly increase the size of their stands at the upcoming CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany. CeBIT 2005 already featured 242 exhibitors on display space of 6,200 square meters, on hand to present the latest technologies, software and services for the protection of corporate data in today's heavily networked environment. Their stands drew visits from more than 105,000 attending professional from around the globe.

At CeBIT 2006 the offerings in Hall 7 will encompass trends and solutions from all the different technical, physical and logistic-organizational areas of IT security ¡X including virus and spam protection, firewalls, biometry and physical security aspects, for example, as concerns the issue of computer center security. This broad array of products and services will be rounded off by two special presentations: ¡§CefIS ¡X the Center for Information Security¡¨ and the ¡§Security Software Area,¡¨ both equally located in Hall 7. These two events will present information on the gamut of aspects and solutions required for the protection of corporate data and networks. The related, Hall 6-based display sectors of ¡§Human Resources ¡X Security and Production Management¡¨ and ¡§Auto-ID/RFID¡¨ (Radio Frequency Identification) offer visitors an ideal thematic supplement to the security offerings at the show.

Companies need to have adequate security concepts if they want to be armed against IT attacks, now and in the future,¡¨ declares Ernst Raue, Managing Board Member at Deutsche Messe AG. According to Raue, the Security sector at CeBIT is thriving because it ¡§provides exhibitors and attending professionals from around the world with a central information platform which directly covers the vertical-market security requirements of today's corporations.¡¨
