The "Portable Computing Group" of Taiwan's First International
Computer Inc. launched the latest in its series of feature-rich
notebook computer models. Sporting a blue color with silver edging,
the computers were eyecatchers at the show, offering, on the technical
side, the latest in multimedia developments, ease of Internet navigability
and e-mailing capabilities into a unique profile with a 12.1 13.3
or 14 inch screen.
The A360 adopts the VIA/S3 Savage IX graphics engine with a maximum
of sharing 16MB VRAM from SDRAM. High-resolution images and streaming
video will be much sharper, and with software supported DVD playback
and an option for at least an 8-spped DVD-ROM drive, allowing to
view DVD releases from the comfort of a laptop.
Internal 2XAGP and 3D/Direct Draw performance ensure that gamers
will not be disappointed either of this new product. By connecting
to the TV via an RCA port gamers can play on a home TV screen as
well, and can enjoy hi-fi- stereo music in the same fashion, without
having to boot the laptop.
To complement the high-end audio performance of the A36s, FIC has
integrated stereo speakers with a woofer into the body of the notebook.
In addition to the Intel Pentium III and Celero CPUs used, the
A360 series also supports VIA¡¦s latest processors. Future upgradeability
is guaranteed.
FIC has designed this series around CPUs operating a clock speeds
of up tp 1GHz and beyond. A powerful heat-exchanger fan with a heat
dissipation plate ensures that the unit will stay cool at these
speeds.
