The monopolistic control of the world's projector market by Japanese
companies seemed to have come to a complete change at this year's
CeBIT show. In addition to HTPS ( high temperature poly-silicon)
LCD technology, porjectors made with DLP(digital light processions)
and LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) technology were also prominent
at CebIT.
Besides Texas Instruments' super-light projectors using DLP-based
micro-mirror devices,, many Taiwan companies were showcasing various
types of LCOS projectors, including Detal Electronics and and
Imaging Quality Technology's 3X 0.9 inch LCOS projectors and Primax's
JVC D-ILA technology-based LCOS projector.
South Korea's Ilijin is demonstrating Sony's projector compatible
HTPS LCDs abd indcated several Taiwan projector manufacturers
have shown strong interest in its products.
Acer Communications and Multimedia showcased a series of HTPS
LCD and DLP projectors, including a 1,4 kilogram VGS 1000 Lumen
SL700 DLP projector, scheduled to be launched in April and aimed
at the family entertainment market.
The 3.53 kilogram Delta Voyager-3300 projector features 3X 0.9
inch LCOS lenses, XGA ( 1,024 x 768 pixel ) definition, 1,300
lumen 3000:1 brightness. It fits screens of both 4:3 and 16:9
aspect ratios.
The 5.2 kilogram Primax Electronics PLZ-933 projector uses JVC's
