The Teco Group has decided to venture into the development of OLED ( organic light emitting diode ) products by investing 15 billion Taiwan Dollars, executives of thegroup said this week in Taipei.

With an initial capital of one billion Taiwan Dollars, Teco has already set up a subsidiary concentrating on the research and development of OLEDs.

The newly established subsidiary under the Teco Group, which has already completed trial production, expects to set up its first OLED production line in the second half of this year. A second production linewill enter into operation by the end of this year.

In related news, Ritek Corp. is another Taiwan maker that has already invested in the research and development of OLED products in recent years.
