Kodak Taiwan announced last week that it has teamed up with Avision
Inc., a Taiwan manufacturer of scanner modules and digital scanners/copiers,
to turn out small-volume low-speed scanners which scan less than
30 sheets per minute.
Kodak Taiwan said that Kodak supplies 75 - 80 percent of the
world's high speed scanners, which can process 60 sheets per minute.
Last year, Kodak introduced medium-speed scanners capable of handling
42-85 sheets per minute with a global share of this segment already
having reached 40 - 50 percent.
The predominance of small and medium-sized companies in Taiwan
encouraged Kodak to introduce low-end scanners to meet the need
of smaller scale businesses, the spokesman
said.
