Delta Electronics Inc., a major electronic component manufacturer
in Taiwan, has become increasingly successful in the optoelectronics
business since the firm ventured into this field in recent years,
executives of the firm said.
With a share of 90% out of the total capital of 350 million Taiwan
dollars, Delta reinvested to set up an optoelectronics subsidary
in Taiwan by the end of 1999 and began formal production in July.
This subsidiary reached a strategic alliance with Dow Chemical
of the U.S. recently.
Presently, this subsidiary is able to produce 3,000 units of
PLED substrates per month. The firm is optimistic that its production
volume will climb to 60,000 units per month in the second quarter
of 2001.
PLED substrates are used especially in personal portable electronic
products, home appliances, office machines, games and PC screens.
