Quanta Computer Inc. claimed that its notebook PC orders would
grow 50% to reach five million in 2001. The firm will also strive
for international mobile phone orders under the OEM basis.
Quanta estimates its notebook PC sales will reach between three
million and 3.3 million units this year, up about 35% from 1999.
In the first half, the firm delivered 1.18 million notebook PCs.
Sales are expected to reach 700,000 s in the third quarter and exceed
one million in the 4th quarter.
Lee Tu-rong, executive vice president of the firm, said that it
expects hectic sales in the second half. Monthly revenue should
reach NT$10 billion in the fourth quarter, Lee said.
Quanta began producing mobile phones as part of diversified operations
in early August. The firm estimates its mobile phone sales will
total 500,000 in 2000 but the firm is now seeking the OEM business
from top ten international manufacturers in the line.
Meanwhile, the firm expects its sales of IA products will grow
considerably in the near future. Sales of IA products will reach
between 700,000 units and 800,000 units for 2000.
