Taipei - - MiTAC, one of the big computer manufacturers
in Taiwan, launched it's latest portable computer, the MiNote M722,
of which the company says it may not be the first one with wireless
access to the Internet, but gives a new definition to the term "personal
computer" because it's many special features to personalize
and individualize it's functions for the user.
The M722, weighing only 1575 grams due to a chassis of advanced
magnesium alloy and measuring only 269 x 218 x24,4 mm, is the lightest
model ever launched by MiTAC
International. It supplies a full range of ports, including two
USB. Two Mini USB, one I D E external CD-ROM drive port, and one
IEEE 1394 ( also knows as "Fire Wire", and rapidly becoming
the industry standard for higph-through-put computer peripherals
as well as comsumer electronics devices such as digital video cameras)
The PCMCIA slot not only supports Type II cards, but also Card Bus
and Zoom Video. In addition, this lightweigh
Marvel also includes as standard a built-in 10Base-T/100Base-TX
Ethernet, as well as a 56K modem.
The 12,1" TFT LCD screen has a resolution of 1024 x 768 with
exception video performance, the company said.
Finally, the M722 has five so called "hot keys", allowing
the user to quickly access five special functions, based in an individual's
needs. For example, a hot key can be set up to allow instant accesses
to stock market information, e-mail, project files, or personal
data banks.
MiTAC said that the new unit would be available from August.
