Taipei - - Enlight Corp., a maor computer case manufacturer in
Taiwan, has obtained orders from Compaq for 200.000 servers, paving
the way for Enlight to venture into the server and Information appliance
(IA) barebone system markets, an executive of this firm announced
in Taipei.
Spokesman Hsu Chi-shen said that his firm has become increasingly
successful in it's diversified operations in recent years. Profit
margings for server products remain at about 20%, he said.
Meanwhile, Enlight will also obain orders for 3.5 million PC barbone
products from Compaq within the year, compared with one 1 million
in 19999. This indicates Enlights's production technology meets
international standards, Hsu said.
Enlight has mainly sold it's server products to Intel so far, at
aboput 10.000 units per moth.
To cope with the low-pricwe PC revolution, several Tain computer
case and switching power supply manufacturers have tried to develop
other product lines through international acquisition since early
this year. In example. Delta Electronic Inc. is negotiationg with
Lucent for the acquisition of a PC department.
