Taipei - - Taiwan's Grand Pacific Optoelectronics, manufacturer
of LCD displays, announced a strategic alliance with an undisclosed
US partner to deliver one million LCMs ( Liquid crystal modules
) annually. The company traced the increase in demand mainly to
the proliferation of digital personal assistants (PDA) and announced
a plan to invest upt to 700 million Taiwan Dollars into another
plant for super twisted nematic-liquid crystal displays.
Grand Pacific also enjoys a booming business through increase
in demand for LCDs, used in mobile phones and especially mentioned
French mobile phone makers Alcatel and Sagem as volume customers.
