Taiwan renowned ODM/OEM Notebook Maker, Clevo Co further enhanced their popular 5600P Notebook series to model 5600D in order to better support the future market needs.
The 5600D model hits the market in early October 2002.

The 5600D is designed as a Performance laptop machine, with functions and performance as good as a Desktop PC. It will support the latest Intel Pentium 4 up to 3.06GHz (FSB 533), simultaneously support Intel P 4 FSB 400 CPUs up to 2.6GHz. The 5600D supports both 14.1" and 15" TFT LCD with XGA, SXGA+ and even up to UXGA resolution option. The two removable smart drive bays design to support all kinds of CD drives combination such as CD-ROM, DVD, CD-RW and DVD combo. At the same time, it also supports 2nd battery or 2nd Hard Disk alternatively. It is a complete BTO system which allows configuration according to needs and budget.

With the implementation of the High end 3D ATi's Mobility Radeon 9000, 5600D has been opened to the world of DirectX 8 features. 3DMark2001SE is the one where Mobility Radeon 9000 is furthest ahead of the competition. With the new ATi notebook chip you can watch DVD movies about 15 minutes longer than with any of its competitors. If you want to play 3D games on unplugged notebook at full performance, you are also best off with ATi's new mobile chip, because, while it may only have a tiny lead in terms of battery rundown time, it delivers the best frame rates for that duration. Besides the CPU & Graphic performance upgrade 5600D also provide more speed and bandwidth on I/O function. USB 2.0 is one of the great features included. USB 2.0 provides 480Mbps bandwidth performance and it is 40 times faster than the previous USB 1.1 version. Which means it is able to support more devices besides the traditional ones like keyboard, mice, printers, modem etc.

The USB 2.0 is also capable of video, audio and more data access application support.
Since USB in its current incarnation is still not satisfactory for consumer-electronic applications, IEEE 1394 is added to strengthen 5600D. True hot-pluggable, peer-to-peer protocol IEEE can handle complex studio and home theater setups, allows multiple computers to share the same peripheral, and facilitates direct peripheral to peripheral applications without host system. 1394 is wonderful for low real-estate devices like MiniDV camcorders etc.

All the necessary and important legacy ports can be found in this particular Notebook. At the same time, it also provides WLAN option for Wi-Fi application.
