ADLINK TECHNOLOGY INC. today introduced the cPXIS-2150, a 3U PXI portable/benchtop/rackmount platform. The PCI extension for Instrumentation (PXI) is a multi-vendor, open industrial specification for the applications of test and measurement, industrial automation and data acquisition.

PXI uses the high speed PCI bus with the rugged modular Eurocard mechanical package of CompactPCI to provide the best electrical performance and reduce the Mean Time To Repair (MTTR). PXI defines the system reference clock, trigger bus and local bus which is required by many instrumentation applications and is very popular in the VXI standard.

The cPXIS-2150 includes a 4U height self-cooling chassis, 8-slot PXI backplane, 6.4" High brightness TFT LCD, and 280W ATX power supply. The 8-slot PXI backplane uses system slot on the right design, and thus makes the cPXIS-2150 work perfectly with COTS CompactPCI CPU module, such as ADLINK cPCI-3700A as the system controller.

ADLINK cPCI-3700A PIII CPU module integrates 10/100Mb Ethernet, USB, VGA/LCD, floppy and hard drive into a three-slot-wide CompactPCI module. In addition, the high performance AGP x2 display controller of the cPCI-3700A allows simultaneous LCD and external CRT display. The cPXIS-2150 together with the cPCI-3700A can provide the best cost-effective and high performance PXI platform for the portable, benchtop and rackmount applications.

For applications that cannot use CPU fan, the cPCI-3500A is the ideal solution. The cPCI-3500A uses Intel Low Power Pentium CPU with up to 266MHz performance and has 10/100Mb on-board Ethernet and USB interface. If VGA/LCD interface is required, you can choose the cPCI-8217 high performance VGA/LCD interface module. Not only the VGA/LCD interface module, SCSI interface, Multiple RS232/422/485 ports and CAN bus interface module are also available upon request.

In the meantime, the ideal chassis for this type of application is the cPCIS-1000 series. It is not equipped with any cooling system and can be integrated into a cabinet or rack which have their own force convention cooling systems. Multiple selections of 4-slot, 6-slot and 8-slot backplanes and hot swappable CompactPCI power supply bring seamless integration and best flexibility to the system configuration.
