PASADENA, Calif., DEMOmobile 2000, Sept. 7, 2000 -- Hewlett-Packard Company, a proven leader in the handheld industry, today unveiled the HP Jornada 720 Handheld PC, the follow-on product to the popular HP Jornada 600 series.

The HP Jornada 720 Handheld PC combines the portable form factor, rich-color 1/2 VGA display, and comfortable keyboard of the HP Jornada 690 Handheld PC with a high-performance 206MHz StrongARM processor, a high-speed 51MHz memory data bus, and 2-D graphics acceleration -- making access to critical data faster and more convenient than ever before.

Both portable and powerful, the HP Jornada 720 Handheld PC runs the new Microsoft(R) Windows(R) for Handheld PC 2000 software that includes pocket versions of Microsoft's standard business applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In addition, Microsoft Windows Media Player and a stereo audio jack are included for listening to electronic music files in stereo. For a rich Web-browsing experience and convenient e-mail access while on the go, the HP Jornada 720 Handheld PC comes with a built-in 56Kbps v.90 modem and new Microsoft Internet Explorer for H/PC Version 4.01. HP dialup Version 2.0 provides a quick and easy modem connection from almost any location.

In addition the HP Jornada 720 offers the advantage of up to nine hours of battery life,(1) delivering high-quality performance throughout a full working day. Separate PC Card and CompactFlash card slots allow convenient use of industry-standard accessories such as wireless communication and high-capacity storage hardware.

The HP Jornada 720 is well suited for a variety of business applications including personal productivity management, sales-force automation, healthcare and insurance. It also features a sturdy docking solution that supports both serial and USB connectivity.(2)

A built-in Smart Card reader can be used to provide added security functionality for corporate, mobile professionals. Security management using HP TopTools also is supported, allowing corporations to control security remotely.
