Protech Systems Co., Ltd. announced its new POS system, PS-8850. It offers the latest technology in a stylish design and provides a 12.1" display with advanced Touch function. This slick and elaborate designed system is Protech's second hit for POS hardware.

The most unique part of the PS-8850 12.1" touch POS is its flexibility to be built up as different models. It can be hooked up with only one LCD monitor at operator side or with double LCD monitors at both operator and customer sides. Other models, such as main system with a card reader on side or with a stand-up customer display at back, are also provided by Protech's ordering list.

Despite its mechanical flexibility, the PS-8850 is a powerful system supporting various expansions. It can be equipped with either an Intel Celeron/P-III/Tualatin or a VIA C3 CPU with frequency ranging from 566MHz to 1.26GHz. The system itself has one 3.5" HDD, one slim FDD, and one slim CD-ROM drive bays. Except general connectors; such as four serials, one parallel, four USB 2.0, keyboard, mouse, line-in, line-out, and mic ports; the PS-8850 can support PCMCIA, IEEE 1394a, and Compact Flash interfaces to make the system easily compatible with different peripheral devices.

The application of the PS-8850 is actually beyond Point of Sales industry. Embedded with a 12.1" resistive touch panel, the adjustable LCD monitor increases the possibility of how the system can be applied. Because of this functionality, the system is likely to be placed in a kiosk stand to perform as a kiosk system. Other than performing sales function, the system can also be an interactive multimedia computer.
