EmbATX is a new embedded motherboard form factor developed to
satisfy the needs of applications requiring a motherboard with a
constrained height. Main benefits include compatibility with existing
ATX family and low-profile expansion via PCI riser. For seamless
integration, the EmbATX form factor offers the same dimensions and
mounting hole locations as microATX. Portwell commits to extended
lifetime support for the PEB-7710VLA.
The board is powered by the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor with the
frequencies up to 3.06GHz. The Intel® 852GME chipset features on-chip
support for LVDS output, CRT and DVO port. Otherwise, it supports
memory controllers up to 2GB of 200 or 266 DDR DRAM with and extensive
power management. The further chipset handling input-output has
built in Fast and Gigabit Ethernet controller, a 33MHz PCI interface,
AC'97 v2.2 for audio, USB 2.0, the Low Pin Count (LPC) Bus for serial
support and security token interfacing.
"Portwell's new board product featuring the Intel® Pentium®
4 processor and Intel® 852 GME chipset provides customers with a
highly integrated solution for embedded applications requiring a
processing power and graphics support in a low profile form factor,"
said Ton Steenman, general manager, Embedded Intel Architecture
Division. Portwell's new design will provide embedded customers
with the latest in technology specifically targeted toward their
applications and enable faster design time to market."
It is designed to fit interactive clients such as Point-of-Sale
(POS), ATM, Kiosk and medical appliances. With reference to the
market trend of POS, the MUST onboard features include four serial
ports, digital I/O, LAN, LVDS/DVI/VGA at lower price all integrated
in this board. Portwell delivers benefits of PEB-7710VLA that contains
dual independent display without additional cost and lower cost
of ownership with an alternative board option that features the
Intel® Celeron® processor.
