Next to the ESM-2440 NS Geode SOM-ETX module, Evalue announced ESM-2643 providing an upgrade option of SOM-ETX CPU module. The ESM-2643 is armed with VIA ESP6000 667MHz processor, LCD interface, a 144-pin SODIMM socket supports SDRAM up to 512 MB, AC97 Audio, 4 bus master PCI bus, and one ISA bus.

Evalue's System on Module (SOM) technology is based on a two-part solution. The SOM-ETX CPU module (as part 1) provides the complete PC functionality within 114 mm x 95 mm dimensions, and functions as a highly integrated component mounted onto any SOM-ETX compliant carrier board (as part 2) through four 100-pin high-density connectors.

Given the facts that all core components are included within the SOM-ETX module, it enables system integrators to focus on customer specific baseboard development independent of the dynamic nature of CPU and chipset evolution. This will reduce the time and cost of research and development up to 60% and ensure an extended product life span of the baseboard. As a result, the solution-oriented baseboard can be easily designed by customers, or Evalue's Baseboard Prototyping Services, BPS. In addition to the features listed above, the ESM-2643 supports two IDE channels, a FDD interface, two serial 16C550 equivalent TTL serial ports, one shared multi-mode parallel port, and four USB ports interface. Customers can have a ready and scalable half-size PISA bus CPU card applying the ESM-2643 mounted onto Evalue's EAP-EX61, the PISA-bus half-size SOM-ETX carrier board.
