After planning and studying several months, Protech
Systems again used its specialties in designing and
manufacturing Single Board Computers and
launched a full functional socket 370 full-sized CPU
card, Prox-1640, built with VGA, sound, and dual
LANs.

The Prox-1640 is a single socket CPU card supporting Celeron, P-III, and Tualatin processors. Compared to other Protech full-sized cards, the Prox-1640 has more functions built on board. The significant difference is its capability to deliver sound without any add-on card. Because the CPU card is
embedded with Analog Device AD1881 sound chip, it is able to provide 16-bit stereo full-duplex Codec.

With Intel 815E chipset, the Prox-1640 provides full functional support. Its VGA function is built in GMCH to support standard monitors and flat LCD panel displays with 4MB onboard display cache and maximum 64MB memory shared with DRAM, which could be up to 512MB in two DIMM sockets.

Besides the VGA and sound, the Prox-1640 comes with dual LANs (RJ-45 Jacks). Its dual LANs are supported under Intel 82559 & 82562ET PHY chips with the transferring rate up to 100Mbps. Both support Wake-on-LAN.

With the combination of these functions, the Prox-1640 could be applied in telecommunication and networking systems that require fast Ethernet. Its onboard PPCI Bus ensures expansion capabilities for users to select other add-on daughter boards.

Other than the highlighted features, the Prox-1640 has some basic specifications including two EIDE, one FDD interface, two serials, one parallel, two USBs, one IrDA, keyboard, mouse, one DiskOnChip socket, Watchdog Timer and hardware monitoring on voltage, CPU temperature, and cooling fan.
