The SGSW-4802 comes with 48 10/100Base-TX auto-MDI/MDI-X
ports and two slots for optional 1000Base-SX, 1000Base-LX, 1000Base-T
and 100Base-FX modules. Each unit has built-in management interface
for configuration and monitoring using either the console port,
telnet, web or SNMP.
When the SGSW-4802¡¦s stacking function is turned
on, up to 16 units can be stacked together through its Ethernet
interface and managed by a single IP address. Both the SGSW-4802
and the companion 24-port model, the SGSW-2402 can be stacked together
up to a maximum of 16 units through its Ethernet interface and managed
using a single IP address. This eliminates the restrictions using
traditional stack cables, as the maximum
distance between two stacked Switches can now be up to 10km. For
recovery, if the main switch of a stack should fail, another SGSW-4802
will automatically take control of all other stack members. Thus
multiple switch management becomes easier and more flexible than
was previously possible.
The integrated IEEE 802.1Q with VLAN tagging feature
makes logically separating nodes easier and up to 32 VLAN groups
are allowed on the SGSW-4802. Multiple priority queues ensure critical
applications get the bandwidth and priority they need. IGMP is also
supported to prevent flooding of IP multicast traffic, and Port
security helps secure the network against unauthorized users.
