The rumors are true: CeBIT will stay Number One !

Dear Reader:
What does our publication have in common with Tahitian breadfruit plants ? Well, we effectively are Online twelve months a year, but actually go through sort of a dormant period - - those laid-back summer months between the end of one CeBIT Hannover and the run-up phase to next CeBIT Hannover.
So now, dear soul mates, fellow sufferers and knight errands of the ICT trade, the dormant period hath ended and we are back in full swing !
New CeBIT concept ready for take-off in 2008 !
Presently, CeBIT is going through a process that 5-star hotels call “Refurbishing” - - a structural change that leaves the building as a shell but totally rebuilds the interior to match present-day demands. That means, when you return to Hannover next year ( and you hopefully will !) you may find the fair ground as you know it – that familiar wind-swept plot of land at the end of the universe, reachable by toy-like green tram cars – but other than that nothing will be as it was before.
A totally new CeBIT concept is ready for takeoff and – in the words of Ernst Raue as Deutsche Messe board member in charge of CeBIT – the 2008 show is gearing up to “underscore its outstanding role as the digital community's No. 1 market place“ Not only will the new-look CeBIT be more user-oriented than ever, but it will also offer maximum efficiency in terms of thematic layout, duration and added-value services. CeBIT 2008 has been completely revamped and shaped around three primary fields of visitor interest: 1 . Business Solutions, 2 . Public Sector Solutions and 3 .Home and Mobile Solutions - - with the stress on demonstrating “solutions” through sophisticated means of information instead of just exhibiting hardware.
There is no need to go into detail here because the www.cebit.de homepage has all of it for you. And if you want it in Chinese language, please go to our own website www.hannoverfairs.com/ceb08 .
Taiwan unchanged
In fact, for you as our subscriber and buyer of Taiwan goods, CeBIT 2008 will present no change at all ( except that the CeBIT makers, according to rumors, are dreaming up measures to cuddle you down and now treat you like the priceless assets you are as visitors - - a gargantuan task in the proverbial “service desert” Germany and especially in Hannover, where most people cannot even spell the word “hospitality”, let alone know what it means.)
Taiwan still is and probably will continue to be the biggest of all Asian countries where the ICT industry is geared to one task, and one task only: To supply hardware to the rest of the world! As such, at CeBIT 2008 our Taiwan exhibitors will do no more than they already did before and will continue to do in future: Just lay out a spread of merchandise and expect buyers to pick them up - - hoping only that Deutsche Messe AG finally has done some homework to have more of them meandering through its forbidding turnstyles.
And once you have passed through these turnstyles, it is our aim to have you, first of all, float to our unchanged well-known 11 theme-oriented “Taiwan Pavilions” with the following topics:
| Hall 7: |
RFID & Data Capture |
| Hall12+13: |
Fixed Line & Net Works |
| Hall 14: |
Telematics & Navigation |
| Hall 16+26: |
Mobile Phones & Accessories Phones |
| Hall 17: |
POS System & Banking Technology |
| Hall 19+20: |
Display Technology, PC Peripherals & Components |
| Hall 21: |
Notebook Computers & Consumer Electronics |
| Hall 23: |
Mobile & Personal Storage |
So far for the locations. From now on until February, our e-papers will explain the contents of each pavilion as they are still shaping up. Please watch your inbox and also consult our homepage for up-to-date news. Hannover Pacific Corp. is not a big publication concern - - but we are in Taiwan, our company is Taiwanese , our staff is Taiwanese , and we do Taiwan and don't do anything else, so please be sure that we know everything there is to know about what is going on here. And nothing in the world will move without hardware from this island nation!
And now for something completely different:
Believe not in Cassandra, but in CeBIT !
You know CeBIT, of course, but perhaps you do not know Cassandra.
The “Cassandra's dilemma” is a term coined to describe the human problem of acting with good intentions but not being believed. Cassandra was the beautiful daughter of Priamos, the last king of Troy. Apollo fell in love with her. When she refused him, he placed a strange curse upon her: She could see the future very clearly, but no one would believe her prophecies.
Today, 2000 years later, all sectors of business have their own bunch of
Cassandras, mostly among members of the economic press. While none of them is graced with Apollo's curse, all of them feel qualified to prophesy and to rant about every topic under the sun, even about matters beyond their scope and insight.
Especially, all that unqualified tittle-tattle about CeBIT during recent years reminds me of the Cassandra syndrome. Since 1994, when we first learned about the Internet, when software grew abundant and mobile phone technology became the miracle of the day, the ICT trade has gone through a gold rush era, blowing up to a bubble and than deflating in due course – and now developing new rational ways of business communication. CeBIT, as the world's mirror of that trade, could and can do nothing but reflect and follow these trends, and that means to go up and down in shape and numbers adequately. Every product in the world is going through development cycles on a yearly basis, why should a trade fair concept be the only product exempted from this cycle? It cannot, and that is why a CeBIT of today cannot boast the numbers of the gold rush era of yesteryear but will still maintain its position as the world's foremost mirror of the ICT trade.
CeBIT Hannover: No Prophet - - No Loss !
It is as simple as that.
And here, some previews from our exhibitors:
