Taiwan Pavilions at CeBIT
2006: One more than last year !
|
|
 |
Dear Reader:
Our very own idea of theme-oriented exhibition landscapes was born two
decades ago when the ICT industry of Taiwan really took off. From a humble
beginning, it grew rapidly to 11 TAIWAN PAVILIONS in as many halls,
stable for years. However, even when a perfect job seems finished, there
is always one more thing to do.
Therefore, be it known, hereby and herewith, that at CeBIT 2006 we will
present 12 TAIWAN PAVILIONS !
At a time of cut-throat competition between trade show organizers and
a greater-than-ever push for cost cuts among exhibitors, this growth seems
to indicate the confidence that Taiwan's ICT industry, professional and
consumer products alike, puts in CeBIT as their window to the world. After
all, it was none other that the German ICT industry association ( BITKOM
) whose top executive recently told the press that the 128.000
foreign buyers among last year's 418.000 CeBIT visitors generated
more orders that all other shows combined in 10 years !
How is that for enthusiasm ?
Re: Our preview e-papers
Medical science says that a sudden insulin shock can block the flow of
energy to the human brain and result in loss of memory. While not yet
scientifically confirmed, it is not beyond reasonable doubt that a sudden
information shock could have the same effect. Therefore, we dare
not to expose you to the sheer incredible variety of Taiwan products by
one single shock, but do it smoothly, bit by bit, hall by hall, pavilion
by pavilion through several e-papers in sequence. Today let me introduce
you to
Hall 11: The Taiwan Pavilion for Mobile communications, Telemetrics
& navigation, GPS, Car Electronics, Bluetooth and Battery Packs
Among famous exhibitors, you will find for GPS products Royaltek, Holux,
Mio, Garmin, and for Car Electronics E-Lead. Mobiletron and Dah Jing.
Hall 26: The Taiwan Mobile Communication Pavilion with GSM products,
Pocket PCs, Telephones and SD Cards. Want some name dropping ? Among the
wide lines of mobile phone accessories to remember Merry, G.G. Telecom,
Celltrend, and for the thrilling sector of Pocket Pc Phones and Mobile
Phoes E-TEN, BenQ and Xcute. And for SD Cards there are, among others,
Power Digital and ATP.
Signals from the mobile communication markets are mixed, because analysts
warn of market saturation. My view is different: A surging market for
entry-level cell phones in developing countries will pump up demand for
Taiwan OEM products. Sophisticated combination products will create totally
new markets. And the replacement market has all characteristics of a revolving
credit for makers with design ideas - - portable wireless communication
products are rapidly becoming status symbols for the elite, like handcrafted
shoes, Saville Row tailor-made suits and expensive watches; and there
will be no shortage of Gurus telling top managers which mobile phone or
WiFi Pocket PC he MUST wear to be recognized among society peers. BenQ
of Taiwan, who just "bought" the SIEMENS brand at interesting
terms, plans to roll out no less than 30 new models this year, and probably
most of them at CeBIT !
And now for something completely different:
Apart from the Betty Crocker Syndrome mentioned in last e-paper, there
is one more reason why journalists dislike ready-to-print corporate press
releases and instead risk to enter black ice by judging matters beyond
their pay grade: Particularly in Germany many scribblers consider industrialists
and merchants adversaries or antagonists rather than partners. And as
they command the media to circulate their intellectual excretions, the
balance of publishing power is not on the side of commerce.
To set the record straight and as our very own contribution to a better
balance of publishing power, I announced in last e-paper that our headline
news section forthwith will carry the CeBIT press releases as original
texts, un-tampered and full-length. The beneficiaries are you, our readers,
because you now will get two opinions for the price of one.
So, here is your secret weapon for a perfect CeBIT visit preparation:
First, absorb my e-papers, if you ever will, Second, see the red hot
previews at their bottom. Third, go to our homepage www.Taiwan-Technology.com
where product news will continue, in addition to headline news, the e-paper
archive, a data bank of TAIWAN PAVILION exhibitors - - and, yes, intelligence
on our major competing ICT trade shows, including visa and travel information.
So, after this fair chance to compare you might be ready to follow our
shamelessly biased proposition:
CeBIT Hannover - - everything else is a compromise
!
And here, some previews from our exhibitors:
