Dear Reader,
This 5th e-paper for CeBIT Hannover could easily win my own
prize for the most unexciting paper to write, because it deals
with trite technologies that no longer raise eyebrows, let
alone attract those maddening crowds: Input devices, including
keyboards, PC motherboards or, of course, those chipsets which
you will need if you decide to patch up your own motherboards.
However, our exhibitors are of different opinion about priorities,
because their necessary necessities not only are basis of
even the most advanced systems, but also a formidable business,
providing their livelihood. And some motherboard makers even
told us of "new innovations" to be staged at CeBIT!
Now therefore, be it known to all, hereby and herewith, that
our Halls 22 and 23 will give shelter to the high and mighty
of the motherboard skill from Taiwan, viz: Giga-byte, Micro-Star,
Aopen, Albatron. And while they do neither expect gaping crowds
nor do they need them, they decidedly pay tribute to CeBIT
as the world gathering of ICT professionals, by gearing up
to treat their business visitors nicely: All their stands
are individual and of bountiful design, all sizes well above
200 sqm, with Micro-Star on a lavish 450 sqm ! How's that
for enthusiasm? It appears that booth downsizing is for the
faint-hearted only, those with a numb feeling for business
trends!
Taiwan's chipset people will round-up the usual bigwigs,
with household names such as VIA, SIS, Nvidia and ATI in Hall
23; only Ali has split to Hall 19.
The leading input device providers like Genius, Ezkey, Dexin,
Can, Key Mouse and Zippy are mainly in Hall 19.
And now for something completely different:
In my last e-paper I mentioned the emphasis shift of future
CeBIT visitor profiles from steerage and lower hold tween
deck to first class ( this writer was a merchant mariner in
his storm-and-stress years ! ), which means away from promotional
gifts-seeking mobs to insiders and professionals. For space
reasons, our e-papers can only set highlights, so if you would
like a lavish preview ( and who would not ? ) please go to
the homepage of this publication and read Deutsche Messe AG's
original press release "CeBIT 2004: Where global Players
get together" - it's the first story in the headline
news section.
And, by the bye, be sure not to miss e-paper No.6 in a few
days, it will once more deal with Taiwan's bright, flat future
- - the monitor business !
And here, some previews from our exhibitors:
