With an all-star cast of five futuristic Theme Pavilion's proving success at last summer's COMPUTEX TAIPEI, these same special future-trend slots are coming back (bigger, better, and with even more outstanding exhibits) at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2003. The enlarged format will include such theme areas as the Flat Panel Display Pavilion, IC Pavilion, Security Pavilion, and HSCF (High Speed Connection Forum) Pavilion". These pavilions highlight Taiwan's unique edge in R&D-generated business opportunities. The effort will complement the government's "Two Trillions & Twin Stars Industries Development Plan" and global IT industry trends which are reshaping the industry, the markets, and the world. Altogether 56 exhibitors will use these Theme Pavilions to bring together 72 booth spaces of must-see exhibits.

"Wireless Pavilion" (Hall 1)
Sales have soared for the wireless LAN market with total world growth in 2001 hitting 34% by reaching 1.8 billion USD. It's still growing and you can see why at this pavilion! What's more, the concentrated investment in this area has driven prices to all-time lows. That has pushed market demand for wireless LAN at IEEE802.11b to an annual 18% growth. Sales are projected to reach 4.4 billion USD by 2006. Already Taiwan leads the world in wireless LAN production by churning out 59% of world's total production value in 2001. Initial estimates for 2002 reveal production volume as reaching 62.29 million units.

As of October 2002 Taiwan has become the number 1 country in the production of flat panel displays. That edge comes with Taiwan's sophisticated channels of corporate distribution and advanced technical abilities and China-based production. Add that up and it means lower prices and popularized usage. As a result flat panel displays have taken off to become a star player in the IT industry.
