Dear Reader:
Due to the increasing merge of computer, telecom and home electronics
technologies (graphic example: car radios with integrated mobile
phones and GPS systems ! ), the CeBIT organizers have extended
the scope of products eligible for display from 2003 onwards to:
- Digital TV and Video
- Digital Audio and HiFi
- Home Security Systems
- Building Automation
Taiwan product developers, always wary of new business, are now
hopping on this bandwagon, and you can expect to see more this
year in Hannover and in CeBIT worldwide events. With the trend
to video and audio "home theaters", there is new potential
for Taiwan's A/V industry. More speaker manufacturers are joining
the line in Hall 23, like Jazz Hipster, Miera, and ULTMOST. Also,
as game consoles are now allowed exhibits, this was good news
for related Taiwan suppliers who were rejected in previous years.
The number of MP3 music users has greatly increased through the
spread of Internet-connected PCs. As people want to maintain lifestyle
during travelling, mini
HiFi systems such as small MP3 players, portable DVD and MD players
become trendy products for young people. You may see these suppliers
in Hall 21 and 23.
Multimedia cards will be present in Hall 23.You will see an abundance
of graphic cards, VGA cards, TV tuner cards, sound cards. Following
Taiwan's leading chipset providers Nvidia, SIS and VIA; VGA/graphic
cards will be a strong display category in this hall, i.e. from
Sparkle Computer, Prolink, C.P., Joytech, Palit¡K..Most companies
have expanded their stand sizes dramatically, hoping to attract
you, the buyer. Don't miss them!
And now for something completely different:
The CeBIT organizers, eager to maintain the role of this world's
biggest trade fair as a trendsetting scenario and a mirror of
the ICT world market, have done a lot to ensure exhibitiors of
professional visitor attractions through specialized events. To
mention just to two:
"Planet Reseller" is a networking center for traders,
distributors, manufacturers, purchasing co-ops and system houses.
To provide a business atmosphere without disturbance, access to
the inner circle is limited to professionals with proof of qualification.
For details, please visit www.cebit.de/planetreseller. March 12
is "Traders Day". March 15 and 16 are "SME (Small
and Medium Enterprises ) Day".
The "ICT World Forum @ CeBIT 2003" ( March 10 and 11)
is a summit meeting of the world's ICT elite, with more than 30
top executives of C.E.O. level as keynote speakers and forum leaders
, to analyse and explore the pressing issues of the world's present
ICT market and its future , the situation of individual companies,
the latest technologies, specific management solutions as well
as decisive economic relevances. A total of some 600 top managers
from all over the world are being invited to monitor this event
and to actively take part, thus forming the most powerful gathering
of ICT leadership in the world . Germany' chancellor Gerhard Schroeder
will be one of them.
We know of course that there is no shortage of ICT congresses
for those ubiquitous professional junketeers all over the world,
but the CeBIT forum promises to be special: Rather than just listening,
attendees are invited to take part in "interactive"
general sessions, workshops, panel discussions, round-table expert
groups etc.; because their opinion counts. Oldtimers , annoyed
by today's cyberspace anonymity, will fondly note that we revive
the old tradition of Hannover Fairs as summits for insiders to
meet face-to-face, to promote the exchange of ideas and opinions,
the establishment of business networks, and the cultivation of
personal contacts through social events and receptions.
Want to know the names of the attending top brass ? Want to be
invited to join them? Contact www.ictwf.com , or if you are German,
alternatively www.euroforum.de .
Most important: The closing session of the ICTWF leads seamlessly
into the opening ceremony of CeBIT. Therefore, our exhibitors
can expect a better-than-ever visitor turnout, in number and in
qualification alike!
Our next e-paper will provide the hall locations of our 11 Taiwan
Pavilions and their product designations, to facilitate your timing.
Yours truly,
Dieter Neumann
